Marten Boon (retires 2027)
Marten Boon is Affiliated Visiting researcher at Department of Economic History; Uppsala Centre for Business History. He received his PhD in economic and business history from Erasmus University Rotterdam in 2014. His thesis was awarded the dissertation prize of the European Business History Association in 2016. He is the author of Multinational Business and Transnational Regions and co-editor of Transnational Regions in Historical Perspective (both with Routledge). Boon specializes in the history of the energy industries in the 20th and 21st century, focusing in particular on corporate sustainability and energy transitions in the context of the Anthropocene. His work is published in leading journals and a number of anthologies and monographs. His most recent book is on the history of Equinor (formerly Statoil) since 2021, entitled National Champion. Statoil and Equinor since 2001 (Universitetsforlaget, 2022).
