About EBHA
The European Business History Association (EBHA) traces its origins to 1994, when business historians across Europe began discussing the need for a European association inspired by succesful national bodies that in US, Japan and the UK. Following meetings in Glasgow, Bonn, and Rotterdam, the EBHA was formally launched in Rotterdam in October 1994. Registered first as a Scottish charity and from 2019 as a German non-profit body, the association's constitutional goal is to advance public understanding of business and management history across Europe while promoting scholarly research in the field. It brings together academics, students, and practitioners studying the evolution of business organizations and entrepreneurship, and their impact on economic growth and society. Its main activities include organizing annual congresses and seminars, running a biennial doctoral summer school, publishing newsletters, and supporting collaborative, cross-border projects among European business historians. In 2024, the EBHA celebrated its 30th anniversary.
