Dissertation Competition

At the conference there will be a competition for the best thesis in European Business History. The topic has to deal with European business (also abroad) or business in Europe (also by non-European companies). The thesis can be written in any language. Authors do not have to be European nationals. Theses completed in 2001 through 2003 will be considered. (It is sufficient if the thesis has been submitted in 2003, as long as the degree will be awarded before the dates of the conference.)

The competition will be co-ordinated by Núria Puig from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Those interested in participating should send a copy of their thesis in the original language and a short summary in English (up to 5 pages) to the following address no later than 31st December 2003:

Núria Puig
Facultad de Ciencias Económicas
Universidad Complutense de Madrid
E-28223 Madrid

Each thesis fulfilling the general criteria outlined above will be evaluated by a scholar with the necessary academic and linguistic expertise. Four theses will be selected for presentation in a plenary session at the conference. Based on the academic evaluation and the presentation a committee will award a prize of €300 to the best dissertation.
