Universitat Pompeu Fabra

Universitat Pompeu Fabra is a dynamic academic institution, located in an urban setting and close to the seaside, in an area that was the manufacturing core of industrial Catalonia and is now switching to high-tech firms and institutions. The university, created by the Catalan regional government in 1990, is named in honour of Pompeu Fabra (1868-1948), an industrial engineer and professor of chemistry who devoted his talent to modernize and unify the Catalan language.

IDEC

L'Institut d'Educació Contínua is the Continuing Education Institute of Universitat Pompeu Fabra. It is located in the centre of Barcelona very well linked to all the urban transportations systems, and surrounded by all kinds of facilities, including hotels. It was created by UPF as a mean to provide postgraduate teaching in the more applied, professionally oriented fields, and to develop initiatives to support lifelong training and retraining.

Barcelona

Barcelona is the largest non-capital city in Europe and perhaps the only one to have experienced both the commercial and the industrial revolution. It is a major business and cultural centre in the Mediterranean. Barcelona is home to some of the world’s most stunning architecture, such as the still unfinished Sagrada Familia church. It also houses many art collections, including museums featuring the work of Miró, Picasso and Tàpies. It was the site of the 1992 Olympic Games and in 2004 will host the Forum of Cultures.
