PH.D Competition

Every second year EBHA organizes its competition on the best PhD-thesis in Business History for the EBHA-prize. We are proud to host it this time in Bergen.

At the conference there will be a competition for the best dissertation in Business History. The dissertation can be written in any European language. Dissertations completed in 2006 through 2007 will be considered. (It is also sufficient if the dissertation has been submitted in 2008, as long as the degree will be awarded before the dates of the conference.)

The competition will be coordinated by Camilla Brautaset, Harm Schröter and Stig Tenold. Those interested in participating should send a copy of their dissertation in the original language and a summary in English (up to 3 pages) to the address below. Additionally, the summary should be e-mailed to ebha2008@uib.no no later than 31st of March 2008:

Camilla Brautaset & Harm Schröter,
Institutt for arkeologi, historie, kultur- og religionsvitenskap,
Postboks 7805, 5020 Bergen, Norway

Each thesis fulfilling the general criteria outlined above will be evaluated by a scholar with the necessary academic and linguistic expertise.

The finalists will be invited to give a short presentation. The presentation is part of the competition. While there is no monetary prize, the finalists will get the opportunity to present their work to the leading experts within their field, something which is likely to create interest in both the candidates and their work.

The judging committee consists of:
Albert Carreras
Andrea Schneider
John Wilson
